Residential water use needs to be calculated for Building Control at a maximum of 125L/person/day. This is typically achieved through the use of low flow sanitary ware and water efficient appliances. Over and above this, many Local Planning Authorities (LPAs) are able to require a more stringent standard of 110L/person/day or less to be achieved.

Blewburton are experienced in completing these calculations, either creating a specification of flow rates and capacities for you to work to, or based on your selected fittings and advising where best to make amendments without impacting residents’ comfort and enjoyment. These calculations take into account the water use from:

  • WCs
  • Basin taps
  • Baths
  • Showers
  • Kitchen taps
  • Dishwashers
  • Washing machines
  • Waste disposal units
  • Water softeners

Where multiple fittings of different types are installed Blewburton will calculate the average figures. We can also incorporate grey water and rain water into our calculations where these are proposed to offset WC or washing machine water demand.

Blewburton will produce detailed calculations for planning and collate the necessary evidence such as manufacturers literature to discharge any related conditions.
